AppTrailers is an app for iOS and android phones that gives you points for watching app trailers on your phone. These points can be converted into gift cards for Amazon, League of Legends, Zynga, Groupon, ... or can also be converted into money via a paypal payment.
Earn by watching
The concept is simple: an app developer wants his product to reach consumers and calls upon the services provided by AppTrailers. You as a consumer get sent these trailers via the AppTrailers app, where you can watch them. Watching the regular (blue) trailers via AppTrailers earns you 5 points, which values at 0,005$. Whenever a new app appears (gold) you will be awarded a specified amount of points, usually around 10 to 50 points (0,01$ to 0,05$) for a 30 second trailer.
Earn by testing
The new apps (gold) also hold another way to earn some cash. AppTrailers will ask you to download and test these apps. Fulfilling these tasks will earn you a considerable amount of points. Seeing 100 point rewards up to 300 point rewards is not a rare sight for testing apps.
An issue encountered here often is the compatibility of the phone you are using to the presented application. Not all phones are capable of running certain types of applications, thus you will not be able to test them and receive your points.
Earn by scratching
AppTrailers also offers a free scratcher "game" via the redeem tab in the app. You can complete one free scratcher per day, which has a 50% chance to earn you 12 points to 23 points (0,012$ - 0,023$). These take less than 5 seconds to complete and can be done daily.
Other than the free scratcher, AppTrailers also offers you the ability to buy higher level scratchers for points. These are not worth the points in my opinion, as the win ratios vary from scratcher to scartcher and you will be losing your points very fast.
Earn by inviting friends
You can also receive an addition 250 points (0,25$) per person that joins up using your username as a referrer.
Payment
AppTrailers have two methods of paying out your points. The first method allows you to convert your points for gift cards for a large amount of companies including Amazon, League of Legends, ... The second method allows you to receive money into your paypal account. This requires a verified paypal account and atleast 500 points (0,50$).
Registering
Registering is easy, just download the app and register for an account. You will need a valid e-mail address and a facebook account which can be linked to the app.
Additional information
- This app requires facebook to run. You can however disable their right to post on your facebook wall. They do not require access to your personal information.
- Trailers might not always be available depending on your location. This shows up in the app as a blue +0 point button. US citizens seem to get more out of the app than non-US citizens. It is however still a good app outside of the US.
